Program Description:
On January 1, 2012, the HIPAA 5010 standard came into effect, introducing more that 1,300 changes from the previous 4010A1 standard. This new standard incorporates the necessary foundation for the eventual transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10, which is set to take place on October 1, 2014. Since all areas of healthcare delivery system will be impacted by this transition, many considerations must be made to the enormity of the changeover process. Are you ready? Join Adele Allison as she speaks about the history of ICD from its beginnings to the herculean ICD-10 task at hand, not the least of which is the interdependency of disparate systems such as claims, interfaces and other technologies. She will review the core components of the ICD-10 and how they differ from the current ICD-9 system, as well as how it will impact the varied levels of the healthcare infrastructure.
